The advance countries visa policy is just a rip off, especially USA and UK the so called global powers are in forerunner of this exploitative tendency.
China won't even collect money from you until you are issued a visa, USA visa fees is also exorbitant at almost 40k, so so so sad that this foreign countries sees third world countries as a market to generate money from visa applications. I continue to confirm and agree to the fact that the Continued unwarranted restrictions of third world countries is a form of discrimination and segregation which is used as a means of controlling third world countries psychologically. If Britain, USA, and most EU countries open their boarders today for third world countries, I won't believe every youth will pack their bags and baggages to live there forever when they know they can enter and exit at anytime. But the continued restriction makes the place so desirable, to the extent when some minority of people enter the country legally or illegally they don't want to live. Visa policy system protects countries national boarders but it also has lots of political, economical, technological and psychological undertone. Do u agree with this assertion? Don't forget I understand quite alright the need for nations to protect and pursue there national interest, pride and prestige. And some people will insist we develop our economy too but the truth is that we would achieve greater and faster development when there is equality and openness amongst the have and the have not. Thank u ,leave your comment, and no attack on my personality I am entitled to my own opinion, you have the right to agree or disagree.... |

Lifestyle 'is better in Poland than Britain'
Lifestyle 'is better in Poland than Britain': Less crime and violence - and it's cheaper too
- Just 5 per cent of Britons describe themselves as happy
- Poland, France, Spain and Italy all have less material wealth, but fared better than the UK
A study puts the UK at the bottom of a league of ten nations, even though some of them have much lower incomes.
Households in countries such as Poland, France, Spain and Italy all have less material wealth but are considerably happier with life.
Only 5 per cent of Britons describe themselves as happy, while 10 per cent would like to emigrate.
The league is based on 16 factors including net income, VAT, the cost of essential goods such as fuel, food and energy, as well as lifestyle considerations such as hours of sunshine, holiday entitlement, working hours and life expectancy.
‘We also suffer the most expensive food and diesel prices along with higher-than-average petrol costs, while enjoying almost the lowest amount of sunshine.’
The good life: Polish city Warsaw. The average
retirement age in Poland is 59, four years lower than in Britain.
Workers also have ten days more holiday
Beautiful, but 'broken': London's Southbank. 59
per cent of those polled were worried about a breakdown in society,
demonstrated by the summer's riots
Forty-nine per cent listed the rising cost of living as a burden, while 47 per cent were worried about the levels of crime and violence.
UK average net household income is put at £38,547, well ahead of the £31,767 in France, £25,601 in Italy, £23,398 in Spain and just £8,759 in Poland.
However, the quality of life is said to be better in all these other nations.
France comes out top for the third year in a row, ahead of Spain and Italy, while Poland is ranked seventh. Britons enjoy an average of 28 days holiday a year, which compares with 36 in France, 38 in Poland and Sweden, and 39 in Spain.
RIGHTMINDS
Ania
Lichota, moved from Poland to the UK since 2006: 'In England there are
so many opportunities; for travel, for culture, music, cuisine, theatre.
The financial services where I work, all have their hubs here. I don’t
think I will ever be moving back to Poland’
This compares with 59 in Poland, and around 60 in France and Italy.
Spending on health in the UK is put at 4.8 per cent of gross domestic product, which is below the average for the ten countries of 5.54 per cent.
The figure is as high as 7.6 per cent in Sweden and 8.4 per cent in Denmark.
Cynics will say the only bright point is that average British life expectancy is lower than in many other nations, which means our misery will be curtailed.
The average Briton lives for 80.4 years, versus 81.4 in France, 81.6 in Italy and 81.9 in Spain.
The figure in Poland is considerably lower at 76.2.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO STUDY IN UK ?
I think studying in Uk is overrated and a rip off,why would a Nigerian students want to study in a country that would rip them off there hard earned money ?, We all know that majority of Nigerian except for the extremely rich individuals who can always provide jobs for there children after graduation, majority of prospective student just want to study abroad to improve their chances of working and living abroad in order to make a decent living ,but we all know the UK do not offer this ,they just take the money and send you out of there country without allowing the student to make a choice of staying or leaving, you are not allowed to work or even gain valuable experience,i think people should spend there money in studying at educational destinations that allows them to a large extant determine their own fortune.
So why study in UK when they see you only as an economic tool ,you take your money to the country but what do you get? some will say certificate ,but we all no certificates do not really make big difference in Nigeria ,you need experience and practical skills ,i want to discourage every average/middle class Nigerian parent dreaming of sending their children to study in UK,to think twice.
Some of the Reason not to choose UK as a study destination.
1. There are no Jobs
It is the dream of everyone going to study abroad to get to practice their skills in the environment where they have learned them. Unfortunately, however, for migrants coming to study in the UK, the chances of getting a job after completion of their study are very slim and there a few reasons for this. But most importantly is that there are simply no Jobs. The UK has an unemployment rate of about 6% and there are about 1 million UK citizens receiving job seekers allowance. So you see, jobs are difficult to come by.
2. Strict Immigration Rules
The immigration rules in the UK are quite complex and sometimes even officials in the universities do not understand many of these rules as it is none of their business. The UK immigration system has been deliberately designed to deter migrants from coming into the country. Unlike in the past, the Tier 4 student Visa does not have enough time allowance for foreign students to apply for Jobs and attend interviews after the completion of their study. You would usually on get between 2-4 months to stay after handing-in you dissertation. This is usually not enough time. In addition, to be eligible for a job interview, the company must ensure that there is no suitable UK citizen for that job. This is almost always impossible except for few fields such as medicine and nursing.
3. Excessive Visa application fees and expensive tuition
Applying for a Tier 4 student Visa could be a nightmare. At present, it costs £322 (NGN 100000). This is excluding costs associated with planning, consulting and logistics. In addition, you have to have a “maintenance fund” in your bank account for 28 consecutive days at least 31 days before your Visa application. This includes a full year tuition fee which could be about £12000 (NGN 3.6 Million) and living expenses of about £10000 (NGN 3 Million). These are definitely not easy to come by, even by well to do UK Citizens. More recently, there has also been an addition of a “Health Surcharge” of about £150 pound (NGN 50000) a year and you don’t get a refund if during the year you do not use the health system.
In terms of Tuition fees, the average tuition fee for a non-UK citizen for most one-year courses is about £12000 (NGN 3.6 Million) which is about twice the amount a non-UK citizen pays for the same course.
4. Discrimination
Although not overt, there is a subtle but palpable air of discrimination towards immigrants in the UK, more so in recent years where many people face financial hardships. Many UK citizens have been made to believe that immigrants are the cause of their difficulties, however many independent studies would disprove this. The truth however remains that many Britons would prefer that you stay back in your home country.
5. It is not worth the hassle
Considering the financial implications, job prospects and the shock associated with relocating, it is only wise to think and think again before taking that step towards coming to the UK to study. Even UK citizens with all the benefits they have being citizens do not find it easy coping with their own system.
UK universities make money off immigrants hence the widespread media campaigns and open days, however they do not influence policies in a positive way so as to make it a wise investment for young people hoping to break new ground. Therefore, before you take that step, think, “Would I be better-off investing the money and resources in other more fruitful ventures?”
This is not to discourage you. Many people come to the UK and settle in nicely, but you must weigh the pros against the cons before you take your decisions.

Today we celebrate Mr.Godson Chikama Onyekwere the first black member of the Polish Parliament.
Today we celebrate Mr. John Abraham Godson (né Godson Chikama Onyekwere; born 25 November 1970) is a Polish politician, a university teacher and a former Charismatic minister. He is a Polish, PSL Member of Parliament.
Godson Chikama Onyekwere was born in Nigeria to an Igbo family. He moved to Poland in 1993, and in 2001 became a Polish citizen. In 2008, he became a member of the Łódź City Council. In 2007, he unsuccessfully ran in the Polish parliamentary election. In 2010, he was re-elected for the City Council with 4736 votes, the second best result out of almost 800 candidates. As former MP Hanna Zdanowska was elected Mayor of Łódź in the same election, Godson replaced her as a member of the Sejm. He was sworn in on 14 December 2010. The "Obama bump" is considered by many the reason for the many votes he received during the Sejm campaign. His supporters were known to cheer "Vivat! Vivat Polski Obama!" ("Long live the Polish Obama!"). John Godson was re-elected as a member of the Polish parliament on the 9th of October 2011 with 29,832 votes
Godson often emphasizes the importance of education and he is the holder of numerous academic degrees. He has a bachelor of science degree in agronomy from Abia State University in Nigeria (1987–92). He also holds Masters degrees in Human Resource Management and Development from Trinity College and Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana (2000-03) and International relations from the Łódź Academy of International Studies (2006–08). He finished two doctorate studies at the University of Warsaw (political Science- 2011) and Universit y of Łódź (Management- 2012). He also holds a joint MBA/MSPC (Master of Business Administration/Master of Science in Professional Communication) run by Clark University and the Łódź Academy of Management.
He was a senior lecturer at the Technical University of Szczecin (1993–97) and at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań. He is a guest lecturer in various institutions of higher learning in Poland and abroad. He is also the president of the African Institute in Poland.
This should serve as a motivation to Nigerian youths, and also to project Nigeria in good image ,an event which has become a rarity due to the bad image caused by "the few bad eggs ".

10 Tips for Staying Safe and Legal in Poland
Stamp your bus/tram ticket
In Poland, you can’t just buy a ticket and get on a bus or tram, you need to validate that sucker too. This means finding a validating machine on the bus or tram you are travelling on. The machine will stamp it with the date, time and your route. If you don’t do this, you’re travelling without a valid ticket and could be fined. Plainclothes ticket inspectors can pop up at any time and they don’t care that this isn’t the way it’s done on the No.7 to Ealing.
You can buy tickets from machines on the street (usually next to major bus/tram stops), from machines on some buses and trams, or from kiosks. But wherever you buy your ticket, you must validate it, even if you just bought it on the bus or tram you are on.

Stamp your ticket or face a fine. Not all ticket-validating machines look exactly like this, but you get the general idea
2. Jaywalking and road safety
Only cross roads at marked pedestrian crossings, or face a 500zł fine. Wandering across the street anywhere you like, even when there is no traffic in sight, is illegal. The police are bored of foreigners trying to get out of these fines by claiming ignorance, so don’t even try it. And by the way, offering a bribe could get you a ticket straight to jail.
Some pedestrian crossings have lights (and a recorded voice) to tell you when you can cross. Don’t think you can ignore these at 2am when there’s nothing but tumbleweeds bowling down the street.
Crossings without lights must be treated with caution. Polish law says cars only have to stop if there is somebody already on a crossing, not if they are waiting to cross. But don’t expect traffic to screech to a halt the moment you step onto a crossing. Far better to wait for a big gap in the traffic than blowing your beer money on an intensive care unit bed.
Poland has one of the worst road safety records in Europe – don’t take the risk.

Obey the little red man – he can save your life
3. Public drinking
It is illegal to drink alcohol in a public place. It doesn’t matter if you’re sucking back cans on the corner of the street or sipping cocktails with your pinky extended at a riverside picnic – either can earn you a hefty fine and a possible trip to the drunk tank (see no. 4).
Obviously, this doesn’t apply to outside seating provided by licensed premises (though don’t be surprised if you can’t buy spirits sitting outside). It does apply to nipping outside for a ciggie and taking your beer with you. If the bar doesn’t have a license for on-the-street tables, you’re just on the street drinking a beer, and open to prosecution.
4. Public drunkenness
Polish cops have long, long experience of public drunkenness and they know exactly how to deal with it – by locking your sorry carcass up in a bare cell until long after you have a very sore head.
So you’ve obeyed all the rules. You’re stayed on licensed premises and abandoned any thought of taking that last bottle out onto the street with you. You’re just wandering home, maybe singing a little loudly, maybe making a few harmless remarks to the ladies, maybe sitting down for five minutes just to ‘rest your eyes.’ You’ve fine, right? Wrong – if a passing cop sees you as a public nuisance, they’re not going to sooth your troubled brow and call you a cab, they’re going to slap on the cuffs and drag you away.

The Hangover Hilton – Get picked up drunk on the street and you could find yourself locked up for the night, and paying several hundred zloty for the privilege
5. Drinking and driving
The legal blood-alcohol level for driving in Poland is ZERO. Poland has an horrendous problem with drink driving, and the authorities are keen to do something about it. Random checks are as real possibility.
Note that Polish drinking and driving laws also apply to bicycles. It might sound like a fun idea to hire some bikes and tool around town after a few afternoon beers, but it could prove a lot more expensive than anticipated.
6. Taxis
Ninety-five percent of taxi drivers in Krakow are honest, hard-working guys just trying to make a living. Then there are the lads who’ll drive you fourteen times around the block and demand a gold-plated arm and a leg in return.
Fortunately, spotting the difference is easy. Genuine, regulated taxis will have the rate-per-kilometre displayed in an obvious place (2.80zł–3.40zł is normal) and an equally obvious meter ticking away as you roll (usually with a minimum fee already displayed when you start). Genuine taxis also look like taxis, with large taxi-company logos and phone numbers emblazoned on them. If you’re not sure that the guy toting for fares is a genuine taxi driver, he probably isn’t.

7. The honey trap
Two gorgeous ladies stop you on the street and invite you for a drink. It’s only natural – you’re a good looking bloke, and the local girls are bound to be attracted to your sheen of Western sophistication… BZZZZZT, wrong answer. It’s a scam. Follow them to ‘a little bar’ they know, buy them a couple of cocktails, and you’ll find yourself facing a bill for several hundred złoty, backed up by large gentlemen with shaved heads offering to escort you to a cash machine.
The biggest problem is that nothing technically illegal is going on. Somewhere in that bar, down the back of a sofa in a cellar guarded by an enraged bulldog, is a price list that says: “Pink cocktail – 450zł.” That’s what your new ‘friends’ will order, and that’s what you’re legally obliged to pay for.
8. Respect
You’ve probably already noticed that Poland has more gorgeous women per square mile than Antarctica has snow balls. Add to that the fact that they all dress like graduates of the Chanel School of Looking Sexy on a Catwalk, and you’re going to be tempted to engage. There are a few things you should know. Bantering and acting cheeky may get you somewhere at home, but it will leave Polish ladies cold. Poland remains a very traditional, Catholic country in which women are highly respected and treated like ladies. They are not being cold or uptight, it’s just a different culture. Respect it, or learn to enjoy your time in that odorous hostel room with your mates.
9. Public disorder
If things start kicking off, don’t be tempted to stick around and watch the fun. The Polish police are going to come down on troublemakers like a bag full of anvils, and you don’t want to be there when it happens.
Krakow has a long history of hooligan violence – the local police have seen it all before and they will ruin your day if you try it on. These lads’ mums and dads rioted under Soviet machine guns – a few chairs thrown by beered-up fans is not going to intimidate them.
Do not expect softly-softly police tactics. Poland’s anti-hooligan squads are armed with:
Shotguns firing baton rounds that probably won’t kill you as long as you’re 30m away,
A truck-mounted water cannon affectionately known as the ‘Typhoon,’
A high-tech sonic canon that can make you wet yourself on its lowest setting,
Dogs trained to bite you directly in the testicles,
9mm handguns loaded with live ammo.

The thin black line – do not cross
10. Strip clubs and brothels
You’ve probably read somewhere that prostitution is legal in Poland and have mentally constructed all kinds of interesting scenarios. While it is true that there is no law against an individual selling sex, brothels are completely illegal. This doesn’t mean they don’t exist, they do, but if you step through the door be aware that you’re walking into a criminal world, and all that entails.
There are several strip clubs in Krakow, and these are legal. But keep your wits about you. The Krakow Post has received many reports of customers’ credit and debit cards being scammed for thousands of pounds. One visitor from the UK claims to have had 13,000 pounds skimmed from his account in less than four hours at a Krakow strip joint.

WHY YOU SHOULD STUDY IN POLAND
Why Poland is a good place to enter university? Firstly, because of Polish university traditions. Many Polish universities are among the oldest ones in the world.
Secondly, Polish system of higher education is developing fast and it is perfectly adjusted to the needs of dynamically growing society. Poland takes the fourth place in Europe (after Great Britain, Germany and France) as far as the number of students is concerned.
Thirdly, because of a wide range of fields and specializations meeting the requirements of even the most demanding prospective students or students.
Fourthly, in comparison with other EU countries Polish fees are highly competitive and living expenses are a fraction of what a foreign student would have to spent in other countries.
Fifthly, a huge advantage is the atmosphere – universities are friendly for foreign students providing them with a comprehensive adjustment support. Besides, apart from the attractive educational offer, Poland also has great economic, cultural, tourist and recreational assets.
Lastly, studying in Poland saves you a lot of money ,which can be reinvested later in the future ,and cost of living is relatively cheaper if compared to other EU countries, and also students are allowed to stay in the country for one year after graduation to search for job and settle in the country, although some may argue about the availability of work, but we all know that there is no ready jobs for any graduate, even in the popular educational destinations ,but what Poland offer is a great opportunity to think outside the box, because the serene environment coupled with the international exposure it offers will surely improve your ability to think critically about how to solve some of the numerous problems we are encounter in a globalized world.
THINK POLAND.......THINK OPPORTUNITY.....

WHAT IS THE TOTAL PACKAGE SYNDROME.
On this faithful day, at the office i sat down to really have a deep thought about "what is the total package syndrome " affecting lot of ignorant first time travelers, i find it amusing that a lot of Nigerians are impatience when contacting a travel agency for inquiry about various services on offer, its also disturbing when people deliberately make their self vulnerable, because of their reluctance to personally make research about the country they are traveling to ,the culture ,weather, language ,political and economic situation in the country.
I once had a story of a young man hoping to travel to United states of America ,but was boarded on a flight to Cuba ,and was told USA is just a trekking distance ,so unbelievable but is the truth.
I want to advice prospective traveler to take their time ,to research on the country they are about to visit, there actually nothing bad to visit a travel agency who may have up to date industry information, but at least do your own little research, the internet is a great tool for this, it sure makes our job a little more easier, and also saves you a lot of money.
Kindly ask for detailed information and not the total package haba surulere oooo.
